    When the news broke about a possible border wall through Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge in Texas, I decided to make plans to visit before it got bisected by a concrete barrier.
    I have been to refuges across the United States, but I never thought that I would have a deadline to visit any particular refuge. After all, each refuge has been set aside to permanently protect birds and other wildlife.
