• Charges sought after standard poodle ate a sock following extended starvation

    The Humane Society of Huron Valley , in Michigan is seeking charges against the owner of a standard poodle named Brownie who died, after the dog was surrendered to the organization in June presumably because she ate a sock, and the family could not afford the veterinarian care when the dog could no longer eat, reports CbsLocal. The organization is now pursuing animal abuse charges after newly-released post-mortem tests indicated the dog suffered "significant and extended starvation."
